Zoonoses Seminar was Held
Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Health Sciences Social and Academic Awareness Community organised an awareness seminar titled 'Zoonoses (Diseases Transmitted from Animal to Human)' to draw attention to the issue of diseases transmitted from animals to humans.
This week's guest of the seminar titled 'Zoonoses (Diseases Transmitted from Animals to Humans)' of the awareness seminars held regularly by the Social and Academic Awareness Community was Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yılmaz, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences of Muş Alparslan University. The seminar, which was prepared to draw attention to Zoonoses (Diseases Transmitted from Animal to Human), was coordinated by Asst. Prof. Özgür Yeşilyurt, Social and Academic Awareness Community Advisor and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Muş Alparslan University.
Prof. Dr. Yılmaz discussed zoonoses under three headings according to their factors. The first one is Bacterial Zoonoses (Anthrax, Brucella, Listeriosis, Leptospirosis, Salmonellosis, Tetanus, Tuberculosis, Tularemia). The second is Viral Zoonoses; (Smallpox, Rabies, SARS - MERS - COVID - AIV (Avian influenza) Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Disease (MMR), West Nile Disease, Rift Valley Disease, Foot and Mouth Disease, Mad Cow Disease (Scrapie), Some Encephalitis). The third one is Parasitic Zoonoses (Demodicosis and Other Scabies, Chagas Disease, Toxoplasmosis, Trypanosomiasis, Cyctisercosis, Echinococcosis (Hydatid Cyst-Petecyst), Larva Migrans, Trichinosis).
In the seminar held in Sabahattin Zaim Conference Hall, Prof. Dr Mustafa Yılmaz said: "In order to achieve success in the fight against zoonotic diseases, a single health approach (cooperation and collaboration of different disciplines to achieve full health of people, animals and the environment in local, national and universal terms) is needed".
The seminar, which was attended by many academicians and students from different departments, ended after the question-and-answer session.
