Curtain opened for Palestine at Muş Alparslan University

Muş Alparslan University brings art lovers together with a meaningful event. Organised under the leadership of our Culture, Art, Application and Research Centre, in cooperation with Malatya Turgut Özal University and Muş Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, the 2nd Theatre Days were dedicated to the cherished memory of Palestinian martyrs this year. The stage was not only the voice of art but also the voice of conscience.

The opening curtain of the event was opened with one of the unforgettable works of theatre history. ‘The Memoirs of a Madman’, written by Nikolay Gogol and considered as one of the cult works of the theatre scenes, met with the audience under the direction of director Dr. Atakan Aslan and the one-man performance of actor Ömer Kaya Solmazgül. The play, which travelled the fine line between emotion and madness, once again reminded the mirror that art holds to the human soul.

Governor of Muş Avni Çakır and his wife Bahar Çakır, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım and Prof. Dr. Talat Körpınar, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Mehmet Arif Taşdemir, Secretary General Harun Demir and many art lovers attended the night where the unifying power of art was felt. The applause echoing in the hall was a common heartbeat for both the labour on the stage and the suffering in Palestine.

Theatre at Muş Alparslan University is being staged this year not only as an art activity but also as a stance, a remembrance and a loyalty.
