The Commemorative Events Marking the 952nd Anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert Victory have been Initiated
MAUN Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican and university staff attended the opening programme of the 952nd Anniversary of Malazgirt Victory.
As part of the activities on the first day, MAUN Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, along with distinguished guests, visited our university's pavilion. During the visit, Atatürk Culture, Language and History Institution President and Ambassador Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, President of the Turkish Historical Society Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, Professor Dr. Erkan Göksu, a faculty member at Dokuz Eylül University, and Mayor Haydar Ali Yıldız of Beyoğlu Municipality accompanied Rector Alican. Following the visit, Rector Alican and the accompanying delegation proceeded to Malazgirt Vocational School, where they conducted examinations in the project laboratory on site.
Within the celebratory grounds, a total of 16 traditional nomadic tents and a central pavilion have been erected. To ensure participants fully experience the festivities spanning three days, a diverse array of activities and competitions have been meticulously organized. Eminent state artists from various corners of Turkey have converged upon the city. The event area, poised to host thousands, has been adorned with the Turkish flag and banners representing various Turkish tribes. The arena will resonate with performances by folk dance troupes and Janissary bands from numerous regions, while attendees will have the opportunity to engage in activities such as archery, calligraphy, leatherworking, and traditional archery workshops. Furthermore, they can spectate equestrian races, wrestling matches, mounted javelin contests, and kökbörü games.
