Spring Has Come to MAUN Campus
Muş Alparslan University became colorful as spring showed its face. The students and staff welcomed the spring with the sounds of birds chirping in the green areas.
While the onset of hot weather made our students and staff smile, the campus, which also hosts many plant and bird species, was the scene of colorful images. With the cold winter days behind and the warm weather coming, the students started to enjoy the warm weather and green environment. With the change of seasons, spring care works have started to be carried out in order to prepare a more favorable education environment at our university.
Spring Care is Being Carried Out
Within the scope of the works carried out by the Construction and Technical Department (YİDB), many works are carried out at the university, from infrastructure improvements to exterior repairs, from flower planting to field plowing. Within the scope of the studies initiated by the Department, the maintenance and repair of the lighting poles in the university were completed and the parts on the poles and fixtures were replaced. Cracks and damages in the buildings were removed and the painting process was completed. In addition, the roads were maintained, repaired and cleaned in order not to cause any accidents.
YİDB teams also organized the maintenance, cleaning and landscaping works of the trees and forest areas within the complex. In this context, pruning and fertilization processes were carried out to make the trees stronger and more efficient.
Trial Plantings Started with Spring
As part of the planting carried out by the faculty members and students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, trial plantings started with the arrival of spring.
More than 100 medicinal and aromatic plant seeds were planted in the medical and aromatic plants greenhouse of our university's social complex. In addition, goji berry (wolf currant), aronia, currant tuberous vine sapling, strawberry, flax, camelina, sugar beet, chickpea, red lentil, sesame, black cumin, oat + common vetch forage crops mix, barley + common vetch forage crops mix, oats Planting of mulberry, fodder peas, common vetch, sainfoin, and musk tulips have also been completed.
Bread wheat, durum wheat, barley, triticale, flax, sugar beet, poppy, buckwheat, cotton, potato, sunflower, peanut, 13 forage crops were tested on Yıldız Alparslan Agricultural Enterprises' land. Trial sowing of one-year grass (milkgrass) in Muş Merkez Kepenek Village, poppy and buckwheat in Muş Bulanık, and alfalfa plantation in Kızılağaç Özdilek village land were carried out. The first trial plantings were also made within the scope of two doctoral theses.
