MAUN Sends Aid to Adıyaman
After delivering aid packages to the disaster victims in Malatya, MAUN aid team went to Adıyaman on the third day of the earthquake.
The team collected 5000 loaves of bread, packages of water, diaper, baby food, feeding bottles, hygiene products, coats and health supplies, as well as ingredients for soup and food to be served for 15 days, with the contributions of university staff, non-governmental organizations and people of Muş, and delivered them to the delegation at Adıyaman University.
After helping passengers who needed to go to Adıyaman airport, our aid team departed for Muş with the disaster victims from Adıyaman. The Indoor Sports Hall and Sultan Alparslan Mosque in MAUN campus were made available to the survivors from Adıyaman.
In a statement, MAUN Rector Prof. Polat stated that the aid work was organised by a coordination group formed by Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Turkish Higher Education Council, and underlined that they are in constant dialogue with the crisis centres in local provinces affected. Prof. Polat also said, “We would like to thank all of our staff who worked hard to heal the wounds of this great disaster, as well as other institutions, non-governmental organizations, people of Muş, soldiers, policemen and all citizens who supported our aid teams and helped them whenever they needed.”
