Hacettepe University, as part of its programs in Ankara, expressed support for the Malazgirt Project

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, visited Hacettepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran during his stay. The focus of the meeting was the Malazgirt Battlefield Detection, Historical and Archaeological Surface Research Project conducted under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Cultural Assets and Museums Directorate.

During the visit, our Rector provided information to Rector Güran about the stages and the evolving interdisciplinary team of the project since 2019. Rector Güran was briefed by our Rector on the upcoming fieldwork within the project. Additionally, our Rector shared aspects that differentiate the Malazgirt Project technically from its counterparts with Rector Güran. Rector Güran expressed support for the project's technical development and its recognition within different scientific communities globally, highlighting its significance as one of the few archaeological projects in Turkey and worldwide.

In this context, an agreement was reached for the establishment of an Ancient DNA Laboratory in our city through the collaboration of Muş Alparslan University and Hacettepe University in the coming stages.
