Founder of Gerontology Science, Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan, Joins Muş Alparslan University
Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan, the founder of the '60+ Renewal University,' the first third-age university model supporting Gerontology Department and lifelong education in our country, which is a pioneer in various applications, services, and models for aging and the elderly, visited Muş Alparslan University as a guest of the 'Elderly Care and Gerontology Society.' He met with Muş Alparslan University students.
In a conference titled 'Aging and Gerontology in Türkiye' held at Sabahattin Zaim conference hall, Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan, along with the Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım, Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yılmaz, Faculty of Health Sciences Deputy Deans Asst. Prof. Dr. Özmen İstek and Asst. Prof. Dr. Özgür Yeşilyurt, and the head of Gerontology Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Efe, presented various initiatives and discussed the current landscape of aging and gerontology in Türkiye.
Exciting News about MAUN 60+ Renewal University
In his closing speech at the Sabahattin Zaim Conference Hall, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım announced the exciting news that the '60+ Renewal University,' aiming for active aging and a lifelong education model for elderly individuals in the region, will commence education in the spring semester of 2023-2024.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım presented a plaque to Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan, who is currently serving as the founding president of the Gerontology Department at Akdeniz University. Additionally, on behalf of our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım presented the book 'Malazgirt 1071: The First Day of Judgment' as a gift.
In the second session of the program, Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan engaged in a lesson with Gerontology students, discussing manifestos that Gerontologists should adhere to.
