The program started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, and continued with the speech of Tiryaki Holding Chairman of the Board Ahmet Tiryakioğlu. Then, Mayor Feyat Asya and Muş Deputy Mehmet Emin Şimşek each made a greeting speech.
Tiryaki Agro Chairman of the Board Ahmet Tiryakioğlu said, “As part of our R&D activities, we planted 18 types of oil hybrid sunflowers in Muş. Today, we will carry out the harvest of the sunflower yield trial together.” Tiryakioğlu also gave the good news that they will take a step towards the establishment of Tiryaki Farmer Academy in the area where our Vocational School was located, adjacent to the region where the Holding's management units and laboratories are located.
Taking the floor later, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Nihat Pakdil said ‘’ there are some technological investments and infrastructure has been created at this point. Pointing to the joint work of Muş Alparslan University with TİGEM, Pakdil said, “We are in an area where technology and science meet and act together in the execution of agricultural activities. Technology and science are extremely important for agriculture. In this respect, it is a very good decision that the university and TİGEM and their contractors will undertake joint works. We, as the ministry, attach great importance to this work, and one of the first issues we deal with is our work, which we call digitalization in agriculture. We started an example of this with the step we took in the Farmer Registration System earlier this month. At this point, our farmers will be able to come to our organizations and make an application without wasting time and without any additional costs. If they wish, they will be able to make these applications with their computers and phones in any environment where they are present. This is a start. Other steps will follow after this. We are trying to bring up the 'Agriculture in the Pocket' program, which we have completed, for the New Year."
After the speeches, Deputy Minister Pakdil, who got behind the wheel of the combine harvester, harvested sunflowers. Pakdil met with the farmers and our students after the harvest and chatted with them.
