Culture of Criticism and Tolerance Ethics in Islamic Thought IV Symposium Started

The fourth international symposium on the Culture of Criticism and Tolerance Ethics in Islamic Thought, organized by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of our university, started with the opening session held in the conference hall of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences.

After the National Anthem was sung, the symposium which was held with the support of the Islamic Sciences Research Foundation (ISAV) started with Quran Recitation by Hasan Hüseyin Yılmaz, lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences. The opening speech of the program was made by the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences Prof. Dr. Murat Serdar.

 

Speaking at the opening session, Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat stated that after evaluating the demands from both the public and academics about the importance of the culture of criticism and the ethics of tolerance, it was decided that the modern period will be discussed in the last stage of the symposium, which they decided to hold in 4 stages, divided into periods. He thanked the Islamic Sciences Research Foundation for its support to the symposium. Later, Polat left the speech to Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez, the President of the Institute of Islamic Thought, for the conference on “Criticism and Conflict Ethics in Modern Islamic Thought”.

The symposium, which will be held in 13 sessions in total, will last 2 days. 37 academics will contribute to the online sessions with their papers.
