Discussion on Salahaddin Ayyubi and the Crusaders
As part of an event organized by our University's Cultural Arts Application and Research Center, Professor Dr. İhsan Süreyya Sırma, a distinguished guest, conducted a discussion titled "Salahaddin Ayyubi and the Crusaders."
The event, held in the Prof. Dr. Sabahattin Zaim Conference Hall, garnered significant interest from our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Rector's Advisor Assistant Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper, General Secretary Harun Demir, as well as academic and administrative staff from various departments, and our students.
The discussion, starting with the opening speech by the Director of KÜSAM and Rector's Advisor Ender Can Dönmez, delved into the historical events surrounding Salahaddin Ayyubi's life and the process of reclaiming Jerusalem during the approximately 90 years of Crusader occupation starting from 1099. Professor Dr. Sırma, as an academician, provided detailed insights into this historical process, aiding participants in a more informed interpretation of the period. The discussion event also facilitated knowledge sharing on historical and cultural topics, bringing together both the academic community and students.
