Two New Projects From Our University
The projects prepared by our academics continue to be supported by TUBITAK.
Working in the Science Education Program of the Faculty of Education at our university, the project, in which its member Assistant Professor Oylum Çavdar is involved as a researcher, was carried out by TUBITAK 1001, as well as the Project which was prepared by the member of Technical Sciences Vocational School, Assistant Professor Halil Yılmaz, received support within the scope of TUBITAK 1002.
Science Teachers Will Learn Educational Digital Games
In the project titled “Development of Educational Digital Game Supported Argumentation Activities in Science Education and Examination of the Effects of Developed Activities on Reasoning, Values Education, Critical Thinking Skills and Academic Achievement,” whose member Oylum Çavdar is a researcher, in collaboration with Erzurum Provincial Directorate of National Education, 20 science teachers received a 5-day in-service training. Participating teachers were given theoretical and practical training on argumentation, educational digital games and values education, which are recommended to be used in science lessons. With the digital game training, it was explained how science teachers can use digital games that appeal more to the Z generation educationally.
It is stated that the project will take two and a half years; and during the first year of the project, activities will be developed and games will be played, pilot studies will be carried out and in-service trainings will be given to teachers in Erzurum, Bursa, Trabzon and Hatay. In the second year, not only in-class applications will be started but also the developed argumentation activities and educational digital games will be applied in the science course for one year.
A Project from Technical Sciences Vocational School
The project, which is titled as “Understanding the Nanomechanical Compression Behaviors of AISI 316L Stainless Steel Milled with FIB from AISI 316L Stainless Steel Produced by Additive Manufacturing” prepared by the member of Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Assistant Professor Halil Yılmaz, and submitted to the TÜBİTAK 1002-Fast Support Program. As as a result of the academic evaluation, the project was deemed successful and deserved to be supported.
