The Documentary "In the Footsteps of Victory: Malazgirt" Meets the Audience

The documentary "In the Footsteps of Victory: Malazgirt," prepared within the scope of the Identification, Historical, and Archaeological Surface Research Project of the Malazgirt Battlefield, in which our university is a stakeholder and led by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, meets the audience.

With the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's General Directorate of Cultural Assets and Museums, and under the presidency of the Ahlat Museum Directorate, the documentary "In the Footsteps of Victory: Malazgirt," directed by Coşkun Aral and prepared within the "Identification, Historical, and Archaeological Surface Research Project of the Malazgirt Battlefield," in which our university and 13 different universities are stakeholders, will be premiered tomorrow.

The documentary, which will have its premiere at our university after the holiday, presents detailed information about the project, including the following questions: What traces are the project team following in the Malazgirt Plateau? What kind of work has been conducted in the fourth year of the project? What do the data obtained so far say about the Battle of Malazgirt?

The "Identification, Historical, and Archaeological Surface Research Project of the Malazgirt Battlefield," which quickly gained recognition in many scientific events both domestically and internationally, was initiated in 2020 with the participation of over 40 experts in various fields from 13 universities. Led by our Rector, the project not only makes the blessed victory that opened the doors of Anatolia to the Turks visible in real time and real space but also reveals the historical identity of Malazgirt. All the work conducted for this purpose is presented to the audience in this documentary.

This production, which focuses on the first scientific project on battlefield archaeology in Turkey, started filming in August 2021 and was prepared by an expert team under the direction of war correspondent, documentary, and television producer Coşkun Aral.

The documentary also includes narrations by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, who is an expert in Seljuk History, and Prof. Dr. Adnan Çevik, who undertook the academic consultancy of the project.
