Commemoration Panel on the 952nd Anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt" was organised
Within the scope of the 952nd anniversary celebrations of the 952nd anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt, the "Commemoration Panel of the Battle of Malazgirt in the 952nd Year" was held in Malazgirt.
The programme started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem and continued with the speeches of our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, President of the Turkish Historical Society Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, President of the Atatürk Culture, Language and History Institute, Ambassador Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, Governor of Muş Avni Çakır.
Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, who started his speech by greeting the protocol members and other participants, stated that 2023 is the 952nd anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory as well as the 100th anniversary of our Republic and this adds a special excitement to the celebrations.
After the Rector's speech, Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, President of the Turkish Historical Society, stated that Malazgirt has a special importance from the past to the present of our country and emphasised that it is an important stop in our history from the Seljuks to the Ottoman Empire to the Republic.
Ambassador Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, President of Atatürk Culture, Language and History Institute, started his speech by thanking our rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican and the protocol members. Quoting a speech made by Sultan Alparslan addressing his people, Örs stated that the Sultan put himself in front of his soldiers as a soldier.
Governor of Muş Avni Çakır, who took the floor to make the last greeting speech, stated that the enthusiasm of Malazgirt Victory has an important place in our unity and solidarity as a country.
After the opening speeches, the programme continued with the "Commemoration Panel on the Battle of Malazgirt in the 952nd Anniversary". The panel was chaired by our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican and the speakers of the panel were Prof. Dr. Adnan Çevik, the academic advisor of the "Determination of Malazgirt Battlefield, Historical and Archaeological Survey Project" and Prof. Dr. Erkan Göksu, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty Member. In the panel, where the topics of Seljuk War History, Sultan Alparslan, Malazgirt Victory were highlighted, the four-year process and findings of the Malazgirt Battlefield Identification, Historical and Archaeological Survey Project were also presented.
