Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özalper Leads the 'Introduction Meeting' with Students
The Advisor to the Rector and Director of the School of Social Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper, recently met with new students at the School of Social Sciences to help them acclimate to university life, provide academic guidance, listen to their concerns, and gather their suggestions.
The annual introductory meeting, organized by the School of Social Sciences, was led by the School's Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper. The meeting for the 2023-2024 academic year was also attended by Deputy Directors Dr. Ahmet Dündar and Instructor Abdullah Demir, School Secretary Yusuf Doğan, and first-year academic advisors.
Speaking to the students in the classrooms of the School of Social Sciences, Özalper began by wishing them success in their new academic journey. He provided information to the students about the university's physical facilities, social, cultural, and sports activities. He also offered solutions to potential problems students might encounter in their new lives and provided various pieces of advice. In his speech, Özalper emphasized the importance of student clubs within the university, as well as the significance of participating in social, cultural, and sports activities in enhancing the educational experience.
Özalper stated that the School of Social Sciences, which consists of 8 departments and 10 programs, operates as a close-knit family with its administrators, academic and administrative staff, and students. He said, "I'm talking to you as an older brother and father. Make sure to take full advantage of the great opportunities our university provides and leave here having gained a lot. Times have changed; you must constantly renew yourselves and keep learning to thrive in life. We take great joy in seeing you succeed and adapt to life."
Özalper encouraged students to feel comfortable sharing their concerns, criticisms, and satisfactions with him and the school's administration throughout their educational journey. He assured students that they would receive support in all matters and concluded his speech by saying, "Welcome to our family." After his speech, Özalper answered students' questions, and the meeting ended with a presentation on website and online learning system usage by Instructor Can Kurt.
